Divorce Recovery

Originally founded in 1994 as a division of AiC, The Center for Divorce Recovery has been at the forefront of helping individuals and families navigate the painful journey of divorce. With over 30 years of experience, we’ve developed an understanding of the profound challenges, complexities and emotional toll that divorce can bring to the lives of every member of the family.

Divorce is generally a traumatic event in the lives of all concerned – the partner who initiated the divorce, the partner who is being divorced, and of course, the children of divorce.  Along with serious illness and the death of a loved one, there are few events more devastating than the breakup of a marriage.

Divorce can bring tremendous  upheaval and uncertainty, as you’re engulfed by a whirlwind of emotions, including sadness, anger, hurt, shame, guilt, shock and  fear. You may feel anxious, depressed or even overwhelmed by the uncertainty about your and your family’s future.

At AiC we help individuals and families recover from the trauma of divorce by providing a space for the affected family members to process, come to terms with, and eventually heal from this life-changing event.

At AiC, we understand how isolating and difficult these feelings can be, and we offer a safe, supportive space where you can begin the journey toward healing and self-discovery.  Our goal is to help you process your emotions, regain clarity, and rebuild a sense of control over your life. With personalized care and guidance, we help you rediscover your strength, work through the pain, and move forward with renewed purpose.

A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH TO SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES

Divorce impacts every member of the family in unique ways. Children, in particular, are at a greater risk of experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges  during and after divorce. At AiC, we provide support not only for individuals but also for the entire family unit, focusing on:

  • Reducing the harmful impact of parental conflict on children.
  • Fostering resilience, self-esteem, and emotional stability in children.
  • Supporting parents by helping them develop tools and strategies for healthy communication and cooperative co-parenting.
  • Helping families navigate their new family dynamics with compassion and understanding.

EXPERT COLLABORATION AND SPECIALIZED SERVICES

Our therapists bring extensive expertise in working collaboratively with attorneys, mediators, and guardians ad litem (GALs) to ensure that our clients receive holistic support during the divorce process. We also understand the complexities of:

  • Parental Alienation: We help families address the psychological and emotional impacts of parental alienation and work toward repairing fractured relationships.
  • Reunification Therapy: We guide parents and children through the delicate process of rebuilding trust and connection after separation or estrangement.

This collaborative and expert-informed approach ensures that our clients receive support tailored to their unique circumstances, whether they are navigating contentious custody arrangements, addressing parental alienation, or rebuilding family bonds.
